Fundraiser to support Pushing Boundaries client Feb. 20
at Redmond Eagles
|
|
A benefit dinner and auction in support of a Pushing
Boundaries client, Timothy Knapp, and his mother Lee Knapp will be
held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Redmond Fraternal Order of
the Eagles, 11440 Avondale Rd. NE.
It is hoped that the event will raise $10,000 for a new,
wheelchair-accessible van for the Knapp family.
The fundraiser is open to the public. Tickets are $10 to be paid at

Last Chance, Join Us For Move Me A Day to
Embrace Movement!

Thank you to everyone who is participating in the February month long
challenge, Walk a Mile in My Shoes! If you haven't gotten involved and would like to, this
is your opportunity!
Join us for "Move
Me - A Day to Embrace Movement" at the Bellevue Club on
Saturday, February 27th from 8am - 2pm!
Come celebrate the end of Walk a Mile in Me Shoes by participating
in our day full of fitness, yoga classes and more. The minimum
donation is only $50 for the entire day ($30 if you participated in
the challenge).
Pushing Boundaries will be there along with some of our clients to
share inspirational testimonials and cheer us on as we take on a full
day of movement devoted to those who aren't as fortunate to move

Accomplishments!

I've been doing extreme sports since I was 14 years old.
Stuff like skydiving, base jumping, skiing, paragliding and flying
airplanes. So at the time of my accident I was 18 years old and of
course I thought I was invincible. I was living and working in Hawaii
as a skydiving instructor. Life was great. I was having fun and
making great money for a kid.
On august 25th I had my usual work day of making a dozen or so
skydives. After work the crew had decided to hike up this 2000ft
mountain for some paragliding fun. I decided to hike up with two
parachutes for a special stunt. Unfortunately my stunt failed...To

Luncheon on Thursday, April 29, 2010.
The Success Beyond
Paralysis event is a fundraising luncheon to support the exercise
therapy programs provided to people living with paralysis. There is
no cost to attend the event. Luncheon guests will be given the
opportunity to make a financial contribution.
Success Beyond
Paralysis is a one hour event. Each table seats 10 guests. If you
would like to attend by yourself, with a friend, or fill a whole
table for a delicious lunch, powerful videos, inspirational

Volunteers Needed for a spinal cord injury research
study!
|
|
|
Length of
inpatient rehabilitation stay following a C6 or C7 SCI and the
effects on wellness, function, and community participation
Who: Individuals with a C6 or C7 spinal cord injury, 18
years or older, neurologically stable, and at least 1 year post injury.
Participants cannot have co-morbidities such as cancer or brain
injury and must be able to read and understand English.
Why: This research is being done to examine how the duration
of inpatient physical therapy relates to the overall functional outcomes
for patients with a C6 or C7 SCI. Determining an optimal length of
stay will be beneficial in the recovery process and functional
outcomes following an SCI through developing an appropriate
rehabilitation protocol.
Benefits and
Risks: There is unlikely to
be any risks or direct benefits from being in this study. the primary
benefit is to help health care providers determine how long people
with spinal cord injuries should remain in rehabilitation in order to
have the best outcomes.
When and What: This study involves 3 questionnaires, which can
be filled out at home and returned via mail, fax or email.
